I truly enjoy helping my patients in obtaining a healthy and beautiful smile. There should be no barriers to providing disease free teeth and gums for all people. Our overall health is tied together to a healthy mouth, and I hope to provide optimal health care to all of our Alivio patients.

I have the capacity, motivation, and enthusiasm not only to improve a patient’s health, but more importantly to improve their quality of life. I am passionate about helping patients navigate the healthcare system and also educating them so that they can understand their diagnostic and treatment options. I strive to assist them in making the best decision for their care.

My patient care philosophy is strength-based and collaborative. You are the expert on your child and I am an expert on child health. Let’s work together to celebrate your child and help them grow up healthy! I am passionate about health equity, preventative health, nutrition, and working with adolescents and immigrant families.

Dr. Melgoza practices from the perspective that every individual possesses strength, has the resilience, and ability to overcome distress when provided with the needed support. She further believes that when provided with the coping skills, a safe space, and guidance, they can become their best selves.

I am passionate in providing strength-based, need-driven, and trauma-informed clinical services for families, adults, and children to resolve crisis and cope effectively with mental challenges.

Dr. Fatima strives to provide exceptional and comforting care to her patients. She is especially passionate about treating children and providing up-to-date pediatric dental care.

Nurse-midwifery offers a safe, warm, and holistic model of care for women, transgender individuals, and families as they navigate pregnancy and childbirth, as well as health maintenance and health challenges. As a midwife, I have the honor of being present for the highs and lows in my clients’ lives: I receive new life into my hands, empower my clients to advocate for their own wellbeing, and walk with clients through loss and hardship. Midwifery care embraces and makes space for the beautiful rawness of humanity. That which is “the everyday” for midwives comprises, for our patients, the hallmark moments in their lives. Midwives are witness to it all and are able to see the beauty in these moments and reflect that back to their clients. I am honored to be trusted by my patients during these significant life moments and continually inspired by the strength, wisdom, and kindness of my patients.

I believe in giving back to my community and working at Alivio allows me to serve the community that I feel very much a part of. I am passionate about caring for the pediatric population and their families. As a mother of three, I understand the importance collaborating with parents in their child’s healthcare journey. I have a special interest in newborn care, lactation, and breastfeeding medicine, obesity prevention, and adolescent medicine.

I believe that culturally competent services for the Latinx community is crucial to be able to process and heal from any trauma. As a Black, Indigenous, Person of Color therapist, understanding the culture is as important as speaking the Spanish language.

As a lifelong Chicagoan, I am committed to the care of older adults in this community. I love getting to know my patients and having a positive impact on their lives. My greatest reward is seeing my patients’ health and well-being improve. I am passionate about improving access to healthcare and excellence in training the next generation of doctors.

I am passionate about providing unbiased and holistic care to all who seek prenatal, postpartum, family planning, well person exams. I want my patients to know I am their advocate in promoting their rights to bodily autonomy and making them feel heard and safe.

The core of my philosophy is the belief that every woman, regardless of her socio-economic background, deserves access to comprehensive and compassionate healthcare. I am committed to providing women with the highest quality of care tailored to their specific needs, while respecting their dignity, autonomy, and cultural diversity. I provide a patient-centered approach to nutrition care. My focus is on helping patients develop healthy eating habits; learning skills on how to create balanced meals while incorporating traditional and cultural foods.

Adolescent Medicine is a specialty focused on adolescents and their unique health concerns. I strive to support teenagers and their families seek answers, navigate challenges, and ultimately thrive. In addition to caring for teenagers’ primary care needs, I offer specialized care for adolescent-related medical conditions that is easily accessible in their community.

My approach of care for my patients is anchored in holistic principles, recognizing the intricate interplay of body, mind and soul. I have an unwavering commitment to serve and give back, especially in underserved communities. I aim to be a beacon of hope, healing and harmony.

Andrea Shelton has been a Certified Nurse Midwife at Alivio Medical Center since 2022. One of her primary goals as a midwife and health care provider is to empower individuals through their health and health care experiences, especially relating to sexual and reproductive well-being. One of the most-fulfilling aspects of her role is the opportunity to support individuals through life-defining experiences and transitions. She is passionate about issues relating to reproductive justice and health equity. She also has strong interest and experience in public, maternal and child, and global health.

Choosing nephrology (kidney medicine) was a natural fit for me because I enjoy providing long-term care to patients with chronic conditions like kidney disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Our kidneys are vital for maintaining our health – by focusing on kidney health, I’m able to help patients manage kidney issues over time, ensuring they have the support they need to stay healthy and live their fullest lives.
